Product Introduction
What is Naperco® used for?
The naproxen component of Naperco® is indicated for relief of signs and symptoms of:
- Osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis in adults.
- Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) in adolescent patients.
The esomeprazole magnesium component of this medicine is indicated to decrease the risk of developing naproxen-associated gastric ulcers.
Important notes before taking Naperco® (esomeprazole/naproxen):
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before use if you:
- Are allergic to aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as naproxen or ibuprofen;
- Have a history of asthma triggered by aspirin or other NSAIDs;
- Have an active bleeding, gastrointestinal ulcers, or other bleeding disorders;
- Have heart failure or blood pressure problems;
- Have kidney or liver problems;
- Have had a recent heart attack;
- Have low blood levels of magnesium, calcium, or potassium;
- Are pregnant or planning to become pregnant;
- Are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed.
Inform your doctor and pharmacist about all medicines you are taking, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, herbal products, and vitamins.
Important notes while taking Naperco® (esomeprazole/naproxen):
If any of the following happen to you while you are taking this medicine, talk to your doctor straight away:
- Lose a lot of weight for no reason;
- Difficulty swallowing;
- Vomiting food or blood;
- Passing tarry stools.
If you are taking this medicine for a long time, your doctor may decide you need:
- Blood tests;
- Blood pressure monitoring;
- Measurement of magnesium levels;
- Supplementation with calcium, vitamin D, and/or vitamin B12.
Naperco® (esomeprazole/naproxen) side effects:
- Gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining)
- Constipation
- Diarrhoea
- Taste changes
- Bloating
- Upper abdominal pain
- Urinary tract infection
- Swelling (edema)
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Upper respiratory tract infection
- Low vitamin B12 levels
- Low magnesium levels
- Asthma attacks in people who have asthma

Naperco® (esomeprazole/naproxen) drug interactions:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- Aspirin or other NSAIDs
- Medicines for heart and blood vessel problems, such as clopidogrel and warfarin
- Steroid hormones
- Methotrexate
- John’s Wort
- Rifampin
- Nelfinavir, atazanavir
What do I do if I miss a dose?
- Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it.
- If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time.
- Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.
How do I store and/or throw out this drug?
- Keep the medicine at room temperature (below than 30℃), in the original packaging, and protect it from light and moisture.
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date.
- Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
- Throw away unused or expired drugs. Check with your pharmacist if you have questions about the best way to throw out drugs.
