Actoverco Pharmaceutical Group officially unveiled its medications Tirzacto and Semacto during a ceremony held in conjunction with National Physicians’ Day, honoring three prominent figures in Iran’s medical community for their contributions to endocrinology, metabolism, and internal medicine.
According to the Public Relations Department of Actoverco Pharmaceutical Group, Tirzacto and Semacto are the brand names of Tirzepatide and Semaglutide, respectively, manufactured by the Group and supplied in injectable pen formats.
Tirzacto contains Tirzepatide, a medication that acts simultaneously on GIP and GLP-1 receptors. By enhancing glucose-dependent insulin secretion, reducing appetite, increasing feelings of fullness, and delaying gastric emptying, it plays a role in blood glucose control and weight reduction.
Tirzepatide was first introduced by pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly under the brand name Mounjaro. Actoverco’s Tirzacto is available in prefilled injection pens in six strengths: 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, and 15 mg.
Semacto contains Semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist. By acting on pathways involved in appetite regulation and food intake, as well as enhancing glucose-dependent insulin secretion, it is used for blood glucose control and weight management.
Semaglutide was previously introduced to the market under the brand name Ozempic. Actoverco’s Semacto is supplied in adjustable, prefilled pens for subcutaneous administration in 0.25/0.5, 1, and 2 mg strengths.
