Film coated tablet 10 mg

What is Motilover (domperidone) used for?

  • It is used to treat a slow moving GI (gastrointestinal) tract in some people.
  • It is used to prevent upset stomach and throwing up caused by drugs used for Parkinson’s disease.

Important notes before taking Motilover (domperidone):

  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have an allergy to domperidone or any other part of this drug.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to any drugs like this one, any other drugs, foods, or other substances. Tell your doctor about the allergy and what signs you had, like rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any of these health problems: Electrolyte problems, liver problems, heartbeat that is not normal, or other heart problems like heart failure.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any of these health problems: Bowel block, GI (gastrointestinal) bleeding, a hole in the GI tract, or a pituitary tumor.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any drugs that can cause a certain type of heartbeat that is not normal (prolonged QT interval). There are many drugs that can do this. You may need to have your heart checked before starting this drug and while taking it. This includes an ECG. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
  • Many other drugs interact with this drug and must not be taken with it. Talk with your doctor and pharmacist to make sure that it is safe for you to use this drug with all of your other drugs.
  • Do not give this drug to a child.
  • Tell your doctor and pharmacist about all of your drugs (prescription or OTC, natural products, vitamins) and health problems. You must check to make sure that it is safe for you to take this drug with all of your drugs and health problems. Do not start, stop, or change the dose of any drug without checking with your doctor.

Important notes while taking Motilover (domperidone):

  • Tell all of your health care providers that you take this drug. This includes your doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and dentists.
  • Have blood work checked as you have been told by the doctor. Talk with the doctor.
  • Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan on getting pregnant. You will need to talk about the benefits and risks of using this drug while you are pregnant.
  • Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding. You will need to talk about any risks to your baby.
  • The chance of abnormal heartbeats or sudden death is raised with this drug. The chance is higher when used at doses more than 30 mg per day or in patients older than 60 years. The chance is also higher in patients at risk for a certain type of heartbeat that is not normal (prolonged QT interval) and in patients taking certain other drugs. Talk with the doctor.
  • Do not take more than what your doctor told you to take. Taking more than you are told may raise your chance of very bad side effects.
  • Do not take this drug for longer than you were told by your doctor.

Motilover (domperidone) side effects:

Even though it may be rare, some people may have very bad and sometimes deadly side effects when taking a drug. Tell your doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of the following signs or symptoms that may be related to a very bad side effect:

  • Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat; 
  • A heartbeat that does not feel normal;
  • Chest pain or pressure or a fast heartbeat;
  • Dizziness or passing out;
  • Enlarged breasts;
  • A lump in the breast, breast pain or soreness, or nipple discharge;
  • Not able to get or keep an erection;
  • Period (menstrual) changes.

All drugs may cause side effects. However, many people have no side effects or only have minor side effects. Call your doctor or get medical help if any of these side effects or any other side effects bother you or do not go away:

  • Headache; 
  • Dry mouth.

How is Motilover (domperidone) best taken?

Use this drug as ordered by your doctor. Read all information given to you. Follow all instructions closely.

Take 15 to 30 minutes before meals.
