Duraxet® (Dapoxetine)

What is Dapoxetine used for?

• Duraxet increases the time it takes to ejaculate and can improve the control over the ejaculation. This may reduce the frustration or worry about fast ejaculation. It is used to treat premature ejaculation in adult men aged 18 to 64 years.

Important notes before taking Dapoxetine (Duraxet)

• If you are allergic to this drug; any part of this drug; or any other drugs, foods, or substances. Tell your doctor about the allergy and what signs you had.
• If you have heart problems, such as heart failure or problems with the heart rhythm.
• If you have a history of fainting.
• If you have ever had mania (symptoms include feeling over−excited, irritable or not being able to think clearly) or severe depression
• If you have moderate or severe liver problems.
• If you are taking:
• Medicines for depression
• Thioridazine
• Lithium
• Linezolid
• Tryptophan
• Tramadol
• Medicines used to treat migraines.

You must check to make sure that it is safe for you to take this drug with all of your drugs and health problems. Do not start, stop, or change the dose of any drug without checking with your doctor.

Important notes while taking Duraxet:

• Tell all of your health care providers that you take this drug. This includes your doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and dentists.
• Do not take this drug for longer than you were told by your doctor.
• This medicine should not be used by men under 18 or over 65 years of age.

Duraxet (Dapoxetine) side effects

WARNING/CAUTION All drugs may cause side effects. However, many people have no side effects or only have minor side effects. Call your doctor or get medical help if any of these side effects or any other side effects bother you or do not go away:

• Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.
• Nausea
• headache
• dizziness
• fainting or feeling dizzy upon standing
• increased blood pressure
• flushing
• trembling
• tingling or numbness
• blurred vision
• eye pain

These are not all of the side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, call your doctor.

How is this drug best taken?

• Use this drug as ordered by your doctor. Read all information given to you. Follow all instructions closely.
• This medicine can be taken with or without food.
• Do not drink grapefruit juice within 24 hours prior to taking this medicine as this can increase the level of this medicine in your body.
• Do not chew this drug.
• You should take this medicine with at least one full glass of water.

What do I do if I miss a dose?

• As Duraxet is only taken when needed, it is not a problem if you forget to take it.
• this drug is taken on an as needed basis. Do not take more often than told by the doctor.
• Do not take this medicine more than once every 24 hours or every day.

How do I store and/or throw out this drug?

• Store at room temperature in a dry place. Do not store in a bathroom.
• Do not use the medicine after the expiration date printed on the box.
• Keep the medicine out of the reach of children.
• Throw away unused or expired drugs. Do not flush down a toilet or pour down a drain unless you are told to do so. Check with your pharmacist if you have questions about the best way to throw out drugs. There may be drug take-back programs in your area.

• If your symptoms or health problems do not get better or if they become worse, call your doctor.
• Do not give your medicine to anyone else, even if they have the same condition as you.
• Some drugs may have another patient information leaflet. If you have any questions about this drug, please talk with your doctor, nurse, pharmacist, or other health care provider.
• If you think there has been an overdose, call your poison control center or get medical care right away. Be ready to tell or show what was taken, how much, and when it happened.
