Product Description:
Actocold® is brand name of the drug acetaminophen/phenylephrine and manufactured by Actoverco pharmaceutical factory.
Actocold® night is a combination medication which reduces your pain and temperature when you have a fever, unblocks your nose and sinuses helping you breathe more easily, and relieves the symptoms of hay fever and the common cold including cough and sneezing.

What actocold® (acetaminophen/phenylephrine/dextromethorphan/ chlorpheniramine) is used for:
Actocold tablets are used for the temporary relief of the symptoms of cold and flu including headache, blocked nose, sore throat, dry cough, body aches and pains. It also lowers your body temperature and relieves symptoms of hay fever such as runny nose, sneezing, itchy and watery eyes.
Important notes before actocold® (acetaminophen/phenylephrine/dextromethorphan/ chlorpheniramine):
Before taking this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist in the following cases:
- if you have an allergy to any medicine containing paracetamol, phenylephrine, dextromethorphan, chlorpheniramine or any other ingredients in the composition of this drug.
- if you have very high blood pressure, heart problems or are taking antidepressant medicines unless your doctor has told you to.
- if you are taking other medicines for the relief of colds and flu, congestion or blocked nose, appetite suppressants or stimulants, or other medicines containing antihistamines (sometimes used to treat allergy)
- if you are underweight or malnourished
- if you have glaucoma (high pressure in the eyes).
- if you have stomach or duodenal ulcer, or other stomach problems
- is you have prostate problems, bladder problems, liver or kidney disease.
- if you have diabetes mellitus.
- If you have overactive thyroid gland.
- if you have a blood vessel disease such as Raynaud’s Phenomenon (Raynaud’s Phenomenon, which results from poor circulation in the fingers and toes).
- if you have a severe infection as this may increase the risk of metabolic acidosis. Signs of metabolic acidosis include: deep, rapid, difficult breathing, feeling sick (nausea), being sick (vomiting), loss of appetite.
Contact a doctor immediately if you get a combination of these symptoms. Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
Important notes while taking actocold® (acetaminophen/phenylephrine/dextromethorphan/ chlorpheniramin):
- Do not give to children under 12 years.
- Do not take this drug if you are pregnant or breast feeding unless advised by a doctor.
- Do not drink alcohol whilst taking this drug. Alcohol may increase the toxic effects of paracetamol on your liver.
- Do not take more than the recommended dose. Taking too much paracetamol can cause serious harm to your liver.
- This product may cause dizziness or impair your thinking. If affected, do not drive or operate machinery.
- Always use the lowest effective dose to relieve your symptoms. Take one sachet every 4 hours as needed.
- Use exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use for longer than recommended. Cold medicine is usually taken only for a short time until your symptoms clear up.
- Stop taking the medicine and call your doctor if you still have a fever after 3 days, if your symptoms get worse, or if you have a skin rash, ongoing headache, or any redness or swelling.
- Do not take for more than 7 days without asking your doctor.
actocold® (acetaminophen/phenylephrine/dextromethorphan/ chlorpheniramine) side effects:
Like all medicines, this medicine can have side effects, but not everybody gets them. A small number of people have had side effects. Stop taking this medicine and tell your doctor immediately if you experience:
- Allergic reactions which may be severe such as skin rash and itching sometimes with swelling of the mouth or face or shortness of breath.
- difficulty passing water (this is most likely to occur in men with enlarged prostate gland)
- unexplained bruising or bleeding
- severe drowsiness or dizziness
- severe excitability
- unusually fast pulse rate
- tremor
- hallucination
- twitching or jerking muscles
- severe nausea and vomiting
- raised blood pressure
- feeling unwell (with symptoms such as difficulty sleeping, fatigue, nausea, dyspepsia or vomiting, difficulty concentrating, lack of co-ordination, drowsiness or sleepiness, nervousness, headache).
If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet.
What do I do if I miss a dose?
Skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.
How to store and/or discard this drug?
- Store below 25°C in the original package, in order to protect from light and moisture.
- Keep all drugs in a safe place. Keep all drugs out of the reach of children and pets.
- Throw away unused or expired drugs. Do not flush down a toilet or pour down a drain unless you are told to do so. Check with your pharmacist if you have questions about the best way to throw out drugs.
